Gemix slot: demo and guide to the original game

Gemix is a Play’n GO slot played on a 7×7 grid. Five or more matching symbols form a win when they touch horizontally or vertically. The winning symbols disappear, replacements fall into the gaps, and the round continues if another cluster forms.

The original game was released on 1 December 2014. Its three worlds belong to a Miner, a Princess and a Wizard, each with a different wild feature. This guide covers that version of Gemix. Gemix 100, released in 2024, has different multiplier and progression rules.

How to play Gemix

Open the game information before starting. It shows the paytable and the settings for that version. Choose your stake in the bet controls, then start a round. You do not select paylines or move the gems yourself; the game forms and evaluates the grid.

Clusters can extend in both directions and turn corners, provided each matching symbol connects along an edge. Symbols touching only at a corner do not connect. The minimum winning group is five matching symbols.

After a win, the cascade replaces the removed symbols without charging for another spin. Several clusters and cascades can therefore contribute to one paid round. When you start the next round, you place another bet. If an autoplay control is available in your version, check its stopping options before enabling it.

Crystal Charge and its four effects

Winning on 20 symbols fills the Crystal Charge meter. A full meter activates after the current cascades finish, then one of four effects changes symbols on the grid. Further wins can refill the meter and trigger another effect within that round.

Nova Blast

A selected symbol explodes and removes adjacent symbols. The explosion then contracts to create a group of identical symbols. The resulting grid can produce another cluster.

Light Beam

Light spreads vertically and horizontally from a symbol. It changes the symbols in the affected row and column. The effect does not promise a particular payout.

Crystal Warp

The game chooses a symbol and changes every matching symbol on the grid to another symbol. This can join groups that were previously separate.

Chain Lightning

An electrical path connects two opposite corner symbols. Symbols along the path change into one of those corner symbols. The grid is then evaluated for further wins.

These effects run automatically. Watching the meter helps you follow the round, but there is no control for choosing an effect or arranging its result.

Super Charge

Winning on 40 symbols before the charge effect activates supercharges the round with a 3× multiplier. It applies to wins already collected in that round as well as later wins following the effect. Super Charge can trigger only once in a game round; it does not keep stacking additional 3× multipliers. The introductory rules in the official demo show the 20- and 40-symbol thresholds.

Worlds, patterns and the World Bonus

Each world has three patterns. To clear the active pattern, collect wins on its marked grid positions. Finishing a pattern reveals the next one in the same world. Complete all three to move to the next world and receive the World Bonus, which grows with wins.

The pattern display records progress through the game. Being close to completing it is not a reason to exceed a spending or time limit. Progress does not let you choose the result of the next round.

Miner’s World

Up to ten wild symbols can drop from above and replace regular symbols. A wild substitutes for another symbol to help form a cluster.

Princess’ World

A symbol at the edge becomes wild. The wild then spreads through adjacent positions until it reaches another edge of the grid.

Wizard’s World

Up to eight sticky wilds can appear. They keep their positions when symbols below disappear and remain even if they contribute to a win. They last for one game round or until Crystal Charge triggers.

The developer describes these world wilds as features that can appear on non-winning rounds. The original game’s bonus system works through these wilds, patterns and charge effects; it has no separate free-spins bonus round.

RTP, volatility, bets and maximum win

Read the RTP, available stakes and any maximum-payout information in the version you open. The developer’s public feature page describes the mechanics without publishing those figures, so this guide does not present an unverified percentage or win cap as a universal setting.

RTP means return to player. It expresses a theoretical percentage over a large volume of play. It does not promise a return to an individual player or describe what the next session will pay. Volatility concerns the spread of outcomes, and a short demo session cannot reliably measure it.

The paytable explains how cluster size and symbol type affect a payout. Check whether its figures are amounts at the selected stake or bet multipliers before comparing them. A large symbol payout is not necessarily the maximum total for a round containing several cascades.

Can a Gemix strategy improve your chances?

The puzzle-like layout can make Gemix look like a game where you position pieces. You cannot rearrange the grid or select when a wild appears. Raising the stake, staying until a pattern completes or trying to recover a loss does not give you control over the symbols.

For a first session, the demo is useful for understanding the sequence: cluster, cascade, charge effect and pattern progress. For real-money play, decide your spending and time limits before starting. Stop at those limits even when the pattern is almost complete. More spins also mean more money wagered; they are not a method for making a win due.
